Biographical information collected by Press Association Compilers for its publication Cyclopedia of American Biography, a revision of Appleton's Cyclopædia of American Biography, as well as correspondence related to collecting this information. Biographical sketches are primarily on a standard form sent out by the publisher to be filled out by the respondent, but some include additional data such as clippings, articles, and pictures. Some of the biographies update entries from the Appleton edition. Correspondence deals with business such as correcting and updating biographical information, payment and arrangements for portraits to accompany the entry, etc.
